1st Place, Sleep When You're Dead 24-Hour Design Challenge 2021
Project Overview
Sleep When You're Dead is an annual design competition hosted by Furman University. Teams of 4-5 students, with the assistance of a Masters in Strategic Design student, are given a creative brief and 24 hours to prepare a branding strategy and deliverables. This year's prompt was to create an in-home entertainment experience, influenced by a cult classic movie of the teams' choice. My team took home the grand prize with our Monty Python's Holy Grail-inspired, all-inclusive movie box.

In previous years, the teams of SWYD would choose from three product types to create an innovative brand. In 2021, everyone received the same prompt: Design a home theater snack experience from a movie with an assigned target audience. With only 24 hours to develop our product, my team got straight to work by watching the entirety of Monty Python's Holy Grail. We used this time to pick elements from the film that we could translate into deliverables. Our target audience would be anyone who loves the absurdity of Monty Python, and values reusable memorabilia. Above all else, we wanted to make watching The Holy Grail a memorable experience for both the first-time viewer and those who have seen it for the thousandth time.

The Box of the Book of the Film can be purchased online, and is available in 3 sizes. Boxes may or may not contain popcorn, alcoholic drinks, jelly beans, cocktail recipe cards, and your very own Holy Hand Grenade. Customers can also access themed drinking games online, and can scan their box for a unique Snapchat filter. Full presentation deck can be viewed below, as well as a short video from Furman about the design challenge.
